The Italian Graduate Student Association at UCLA

The Italian Graduate Student Association (IGSA) was founded more than thirty years ago with the intent of serving the UCLA community through an academically and intellectually stimulating annual conference. This conference has consistently attracted and gathered a diverse audience of leading scholars and academics, talented undergraduate students and interested locals, thus resulting in a rich amalgam of information and thought. Moreover, the IGSA’s annual conference has provided opportunities for discussion of the most relevant and significant topics related to Italian Studies— almost always through an interdisciplinary lens. By inviting keynote speakers and graduate students from all over the globe to share their research at UCLA, the IGSA has presented students with the rare opportunity to engage with individuals from different backgrounds, countries, and disciplines, encouraging them to recognize and ponder the significance of Italian culture, history, and society in a global context.
